Tri-Beta
is the national biological honor society that was established
in 1922 by Br. Frank G. Brooks and a group of his students. The
aim of the society is to promote interest and research in the
biological sciences. National and district conventions naturally
accompanied the growth of the society, with awards presented
to outstanding individuals and chapter accomplishments.
Dr. Gary
N. Wells at Florida Institute of Technology established the Sigma
Psi chapter of Tri-Beta in 1981. Activities that reflect the society's objective
include guest speakers and informational sessions. Additionally, there are
also activities that reflect the diverse interest of our members such as
camping trips, hiking trips, NASA tours and the Haunted Lab, just
to name a few. In
an attempt to encourage interaction between the faculty and students, Tri-Beta
also sponsors picnics, BBQ's and banquets that bring together faculty and
students. |
