Dr. Qiuji Ye, a 2017 Ph.D. graduate from Prof. Joshua Rokach’s group has been awarded a postdoctoral appointment in Professor K. C. Nicolaou’s laboratory at Rice University. Qiuji will start working there this coming May.

Professor Nicolaou is among the most accomplished chemists in the world, and is best known for publishing the first complete chemical synthesis of Taxol, one of nature’s most complex molecules. Taxol is now marketed as the chemotherapeutic drug paclitaxel to treat ovarian, breast, lung, pancreatic and other cancers and is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines.

Professor Nicolaou has authored or co-authored more than 770 peer-reviewed publications, and his work has been cited more than 55,000 times. His numerous honors include the Wolf Prize in Chemistry, the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Chemistry, the Arthur C. Cope Award and the Linus Pauling Medal.
