Florida Tech's Education and Interdisciplinary Studies programs are highly specialized according to student needs to readily prepare for a wide array of careers in education, science, and sustainability.  

Our Education Program offers B.S., M.A.T., M.S., Ed.S, Ed.D and Ph.D degrees in the most valuable STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) specialities, including:        

  •  Computer Education
  •  Environmental Education
  •  Mathematics Education
  •  Science Education, with specializations in:  Biology;  Chemistry;  Environmental Science;  Middle Grades (General) Science;  Earth/Space Sciences; and  Physics

Our Interdisciplinary Studies Program offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Interdisciplinary Science, and an undergraduate minor program in Sustainability.   Applied research opportunities in Interdisciplinary Science and Sustainability are available with most departments in all of the Colleges across campus:  Science, Engineering, Business, Psychology/Liberal Arts, and Aeronautics.  

A B.S. program is also offered in Interdisciplinary Science – Military Science.  The military science program prepares Florida Tech ROTC cadets to serve as commissioned officers in all United States military branches. Scientific and military studies are incorporated into the curriculum with emphasis on applied problem solving.

Athletics Coaching Minor - Now Available
To coach most school athletic teams in the State of Florida, a coaching certificate is required.  You can now take the courses for that certification while completing a separate major degree.  Such skills enhance the marketability of high school educators.   

Required Core:
EDS 1005 Introduction to Education (3 credits)
BIO 2162 Survey of Human Anatomy & Physiology (4 credits)
PED 2160 Coaching Theory (3 credits)
PED 2161 Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries (3 credits)

Choose One Specialty Class (2 credits):
PED 3160 Theory & Practice of Coaching Basketball  or  PED 3161 Theory & Practice of Coaching Soccer

Choose One Skills Class (1 credit each):
PED 1046 Intro to Weight Lifting  or  PED 1060 Intro to Tennis
PED 1080 Intro to Golf  or  PED 2070 Intro to Team Sports or
PED 1160 Intercollegiate Athletics (must be participating in an approved intercollegiate varsity team sport)
