Meet Ed. He is a flamingo ... you, know, one of those "rare" pink birds that you don't find much in Florida. Ed moved to the area from Tampa in the spring of 1998, but he was conceived at the Brevard Zoo ... so this is really his home. When he was accepted at Florida Tech he was at a crossroads – with interests in both aviation and education. After spending the summer getting to know the campus and learning about the programs, "he decided to take the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference" (from The Road Less Taken by Robert Frost).
Ed enrolled in the Department of Science and Mathematics Education in the fall of 1998 and attended Mrs. Blenis' Introduction to Education course. He works full time, greeting students in the office, and he is also very active in Student Ambassadors and FEA. This alone has kept Ed very busy, but he still finds time to delight in some wholesome outings with other education majors. He's been dancing, cross country racing, given a speech during Open House, been a tour guide and visited a local middle school. He even had the opportunity to pursue his hobby when he went flying with one of the science education students.
Stop by Mrs. B's office sometime to take a look at Ed's photo album, or view his latest adventures here online. Ed is a very busy bird, but if you'd like to take him to an event, make sure to schedule it with Mrs. Blenis. She will be happy to check his date book!
