Certification

Students at Florida Tech who graduate from any of our seven State Approved Programs will be "certifiable" on graduation. That means that they will have completed ALL of the requirements for becoming certified in the State of Florida–all they need to do after graduation is apply with the state for their 5-year Professional Educator's Certificate.  Florida Tech's State Approved Program is also very portable; allowing our graduates to teach in other states, with no further requirements.

The requirements for graduating from a State Approved Program are:

  • A minimum overall GPA of 2.5
  • A minimum 2.5 GPA in all Education courses
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA for the 18 semester hours of student teaching
  • Demonstrate competence in all 12 Preprofessional Accomplished Practices
  • Pass the Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) - General Knowledge
  • Pass the FTCE - Subject Area
  • Pass the FTCE - Professional Education

For more information check out the Florida Certification Web site.
