Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech)

Florida Tech, established in 1961, is an accredited co-educational independently controlled and supported technological university and is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and research in various fields of knowledge which include many areas of sciences, technology and engineering.

The University is approved by the Office of Education of the U.S. Department of Education and other educational bodies. Florida Tech is a member of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida, The American Council of Education, and many other organizations. Florida Tech has established Dual Major and Dual Degree programs.

In the past few years, Florida Tech has grown to be an institute of repute. The present administration is giving more impetus to develop it as one of the few best technological institutions.

Florida Tech has more than 82 countries represented in the student body.

Location and climate:

Florida Tech’s main campus is located in Melbourne, Florida, a residential community on the Space Coast of Florida. The community hosts many high tech companies that serve and support industries for the space program. Melbourne, home to approximately 65,000 residents representing many U.S. states and foreign countries, is on the east coast of Florida approximately 120 kilometers from Orlando (Disney World) and 270 kilometers from Miami. The Kennedy Space Center is within 20 miles of Florida Tech. The beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean are within five miles.

The climate is generally warm, sunny and humid, with an average temperature of 75°F (24°C). Temperature can be as low as 40°F (4°C) during the months of December, January, and February and as high as 100°F (37°C) during the months of July, August, and September.
